A good quality antique French standish desk tidy. Made in gilt spelter with a shaped marble pen tray. A Spaniel type dog stands in the centre on foliage (signed at the base), flanked by a pair of ink pots with original glass liners. A striking item for on a table or desk. One hinge is worn on the pot as photographed. Circa 1890.
