Antique Italian Grotto occasional tripod table, circa 1890. Profusely carved naturalistic base with a serpent wrapped around the stem. The top is a shell with a reasonably flat surface for practicality, with a well-carved cupid sat on the back edge. A highly decorative and unusual item.
