A fine quality late 18th century Italian walnut commode, exquisitely crafted and richly inlaid with Neoclassical motifs. This three-drawer commode is a striking example of Italian artistry and design from the Grand Tour era.
The rectangular top is bordered with geometric marquetry and features a central medallion depicting a classical figure in silhouette. The facade is equally adorned with detailed inlay work, showcasing mythological scenes, urns, and candelabra motifs across the frieze drawer. The two lower drawers are flanked by intricate banding and centered with oval medallions echoing the classical theme.
Each side panel is similarly decorated with figured inlay, framed by trailing vine and floral motifs on the legs and corners. Retaining original brass ring handles and escutcheons, the piece stands on tapered legs with a delicate splay, enhancing its refined silhouette.
A truly decorative and collectable statement piece, ideal for elegant interiors or as a focal point in a traditional or eclectic setting.
