A superb English solid walnut travel trunk/ chest, circa 1870. Unusual being in walnut which is a beautiful colour with good figuring. Original kidney-shaped carrying handles with a good bold handle to the front. Slightly domed on the top but still fine as a coffee table. Good on all sides, so it can be placed freestanding. There is also an inlaid heart around the keyhole with two initials.

This is the only example I have seen in walnut as most are camphor or pine and are not figured like walnut.
