A well made 19th-century ships wheel on capstan base, with a plate glass top. The plate glass is cut in the centre to drop over the central brass hub. Both the brass and the teak are nicely patinated as you would expect. The Capstan base was where the rope is wrapped around on the ship. The base sits on a set of castors. Circa 1890.
