Hutton-Clarke Antiques is pleased to offer this fine quality late 18th-century mahogany Pembroke table. Made in beautifully figured games mahogany, the top is elegantly banded in rosewood and displays a rich, well-aged colour and patina developed over more than two centuries.
The frieze is decorated with carved patera roundels and fitted with a real drawer to one side and a false drawer opposing, retaining its original brass handles. The table stands on slender tapered and reeded legs terminating in the original brass castors, giving it a refined and balanced Georgian silhouette.
Dating to circa 1790, this is a particularly attractive example of the classic Pembroke form. The top shows a slight shake to the veneer consistent with age, which does not detract from its overall appearance and authenticity.
A charming and elegant Georgian table, ideal as a side or occasional piece for a lamp.
