A rare pair of French rosewood jardinieres made in solid rosewood, one with liner and the other without. Probably from the end of the 19th century but in the style of the Empire period of the early 19th century. Very good quality and very heavy, so won't topple over if knocked. Elongated octagonal tops with elliptical uprights terminating in carved rams heads, standing on concaved platform bases. Circa 1890. (Would look great with inset marble tops).
