A superb example of a large mid-18th Century four drawer dresser base. It is made from oak with walnut crossbanding and barbers pole stringing. It has four drawers above a nicely shaped frieze and stands on two cabriole front legs terminating in pad feet. It has two square back legs and each drawer has brass swan neck handles with pierced backs. The handles are not original and would have originally been drop handles but these have certainly been on for a long while. The top is in good condition and has never had a rack and hasn't dipped with age. The drawers have all the original linings and the back is paneled in sections. A lovely country house piece.
