Renaissance-style portrait of a gentleman, circa 1800. A very well executed painting with excellent attention to detail. Not only in the face but the fur coat and large gold medallion. The sitter was obviously a very important Nobleman or merchant from the period.  Old damages and re-lined at some time. Mounted in a simple gilt frame.
