A fine Victorian walnut tilting reading stand, with a richly carved and polychrome-decorated column and elegant carved tripod base with scrolling legs and foliate ornament. The generously proportioned rectangular top has a moulded edge and attractive original brass fittings.
The removable reading stand lifts away from the top, while the entire top can be tilted and folded completely flat, allowing the piece to be used as an occasional or side table. A particularly decorative and versatile example of Victorian furniture.
